Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I need a motorcycle to join the Elks Riders?
Absolutely NOT
You Can Be Associate Member
Any Elk member in good standing is welcome to join the Elks Riders. You do not need to own or ride a motorcycle. Members with motorcycles, trikes, Slingshots, Jeeps, classic cars, and other street-legal vehicles are welcome. Our mission is fellowship, service, and supporting our lodge—not the type of vehicle you drive.
Will the Elks Riders turn our lodge into a “biker bar”?
Absolutely NOT
- We are Elks Lodge First. The Elks Riders exist to support the mission and values of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks through charity, volunteerism, and fellowship
- Every chapter chapter is reminded that:
- Without the Lodge, there are no Riders.
- Our purpose is to strengthen the Lodge—not change it.
- Elks Riders proudly participate in Lodge events, volunteer projects, charitable fundraising, patriotic ceremonies, and community outreach. We work alongside fellow members to help our Lodges grow, attract new members, and increase support for local charities.
- The Elks Riders are not a motorcycle Association that takes over a Lodge. We are a family of Elks who happen to enjoy riding and who use that passion to serve our communities and promote the principles of the Order.
Are there additional cost to join the Elks Riders?
Each Elks Riders Association establishes its own cost and fees through its bylaws.
Most chapters charge:
- A one-time application or patch fee
- Annual fee determined by the local association
These funds help support chapter activities, charitable events, and operating expenses.
Do I own my Elks Riders patches?
Absolutely NOT
The official Elks Riders patches remain the property of the lodge or local association.
If your Elks membership ends, or if requested by the Lodge or Elks Riders President, the patches must be returned.
How are funds managed?
All funds raised by an Elks Riders Association are managed under the same financial rules and safeguards as any other committee within the lodge.
Funds remain under lodge control, and all disbursements follow established lodge financial procedures in accordance with Grand Lodge Statute 13.200.
Transparency and accountability are fundamental to every Elks Riders Association.
